A shooting school set in the heart of Dorset offering individual instruction as well as simulated game days.

Shooting Instruction

Charles Holland Shooting offers bespoke, tailored shooting instruction. Whether you are an advanced shot wanting to practice for the forthcoming shooting season or a newcomer to the sport we can cater for all. Every client is treated as an individual, needs are discussed, ability assessed and instruction is then tailored to match.

For the game shot all types of traditional game birds can be simulated in realistic settings and any particular problem can be addressed and corrected. Novices can start with a one hour individual lesson where you can learn about safety, etiquette, the correct gun mount and the right technique from the outset. Alongside the traditional clay traps which simulate game birds we also offer a dedicated bespoke grouse layout with a traditional stone grouse butt.

Pre-Game Day Practice

Charles Holland Shooting is situated close to some of the very best game shooting estates in the country including Rushmore Estate and Ashcombe Estate. If you are coming to shoot at one of these game days and staying at either The King John Inn, The Museum Inn or 10 Castle Street, Charles Holland Shooting is the perfect place to practice and get your eye in the day before. We are happy to provide a bespoke service whereby we will pick clients up and drop them back at their hostelry.

Testimonials

Jamie Oliver MBE, Chef and Restaurateur

"I've known Charles for years and cannot recommend him enough for his ability in teaching both novices and the more advanced in the shooting field. I've been on several of his simulated game days, and he's always helped improve my technique. On top of that, you get a great day out in the countryside."
